Large group photographs, done properly
A hundred people on a lawn in front of a chapel is a technical problem before it is a photograph. Everyone has to be visible, in focus and lit evenly, and it has to happen in the fifteen minutes before people start drifting away.
That means arriving early, choosing the position against the light rather than into it, and having somebody with a loud voice to organise rows. I bring the plan. You bring the loud voice.
Staff pages that survive turnover
Academic departments turn over constantly: postdocs arrive, students finish, group leaders move. A staff page photographed all at once looks coherent for a year and then decays as new portraits are added by whoever has a phone.
I keep the setup on file so a new arrival next term can be photographed to match the existing set. It is a small thing that keeps a department page looking deliberate for years.
Research and facilities
Grant reports, impact case studies and institute websites all need pictures of the work itself, and the work is usually more visually interesting than anybody inside it expects: growth rooms, wind tunnels, workshops, glassware, and whiteboards mid-argument.
Common questions
Can you photograph a whole cohort in one session?
Yes. Large group photographs are routine work: matriculation-style rows on a college lawn, staff photographs outside a department, or a full conference delegation. Tell me the numbers and the location and I will tell you the time it needs.
Do you work with college and university branding requirements?
Yes. Send me the guidelines, the crop ratios and any background requirements before the shoot and I will deliver files that meet them rather than files somebody has to re-crop afterwards.
